After All Has Been Heard

13 When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity. 14 For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

Part of me hoped for more at the end of Ecclesiastes. After all the questions about injustice, work, and what matters, I wanted something to tie it all together. But the Teacher concludes by telling us to fear God and keep His commands.

Honestly, that sounds almost too simple. After everything we’ve wrestled with, does it really come down to simple obedience?

Maybe I’ve heard the commands without giving enough attention to the One who gives them.

These closing words don’t make the hard questions disappear. Life is confusing. There are things I wish were different, and I don’t have answers for all of them.

I wonder how often I’ve wanted God to explain Himself before trusting what He’s already said. I can keep bringing my questions. But maybe there’s something I already know I need to do.

Verse 14 reminds me that God sees the life I’m living, and one day, I’ll answer to Him for how I’ve lived it.

I still want answers. But I’m learning that faith isn't having every question resolved; it's taking God seriously even while the questions remain.

Father, there’s so much I still don’t understand. Help me bring my questions to You honestly. And where You’ve already spoken, give me the courage to listen and respond.

Thanks for walking through Ecclesiastes with me. If you’ve been wrestling through these chapters alongside me, I'm grateful you tagged along. Lord willing, I'll be back soon. Hope you'll join me.
