4 One who watches the wind will not sow, and the one who looks at the clouds will not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4
Sometimes I keep rereading a difficult message even after I can’t find anything else to change.
I want to get it right. When I am frustrated or worried about how something will land, I check my words. Sometimes another reading reveals something that needs to change. But even after I’ve said what I mean, I hesitate. Often, I’m afraid of the response or how I’ll handle what comes next.
The Teacher in Ecclesiastes describes a farmer watching the wind and clouds. Those conditions matter, but if he keeps watching, he never plants or harvests. A few verses later, we are told to keep sowing even though we cannot know which effort will succeed.
I wonder how often I expect preparation to give me certainty it cannot.
Father, help me see what really needs my attention. Give me the courage to move forward, even when I cannot see how it will turn out.
