Still Worshiping

17 When they saw him, they worshiped, but some doubted. Matthew 28:17

The risen Jesus stood before them, and they worshiped. But some doubted.

I’m glad Matthew didn’t leave those last three words out. The disciples didn’t come to Jesus with clear minds and settled hearts. They came as they were: awed, uncertain, still carrying the weight of everything that had happened.

And Jesus still spoke to them.

I catch myself acting as if I have to silence every question before I can come close. As if prayer only counts once the doubts are quiet, or worship only matters once I’m strong, or love is only safe once I’m whole.

But Jesus does not wait for us at the end of our struggle. He meets us in it.

The disciples worshiped while some of them wondered. The uncertainty did not keep them from coming before Him. And Jesus did not abandon them because they had not found every answer.

Faith isn’t the absence of uncertainty. It’s staying in front of Jesus with an open heart, letting ourselves be seen, and hearing again, under the noise of fear and self-rejection, that we belong to the One who calls us His own.

Lord, when my heart is divided and my questions keep coming, keep me near You. Teach me to worship not because I understand everything, but because You are here.

Before We Turn the Page

Matthew has taught me to slow down. To listen. To notice. To let Jesus speak before I rush ahead.

Now we turn to Ecclesiastes. A book honest about ambition, disappointment, time, death, joy, and the things we chase hoping they will satisfy us.

Some of its questions may unsettle us. That may be part of the gift.

God is forming us as we learn to live with mystery without losing sight of the One who holds it all.

I’m preparing and eager to walk this next stretch of the road with you.

Ecclesiastes starts on 9.1.26.
