Fully Known

75 Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly. Matthew 26:75

Peter didn’t just remember that he had failed. He remembered that Jesus had already known he would.

Hours earlier Peter had said, “I will never deny you.” Jesus answered, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

Peter thought he knew himself better than Jesus did. He was wrong.

I do the same thing more often than I want to admit. I trust my own read on myself. I overestimate what I can handle, underestimate how weak I am, and assume I’ll stand firm in moments I’ve never actually faced.

Jesus sees clearer than that. He sees where I’ll hold and where I’ll fall. Nothing about me is hidden from him.

And He still calls me to follow Him.

Lord, thank You for knowing me completely. Keep me from leaning on my own strength. Teach me to rest in the grace of the One who sees me as I really am and loves me still.
