Nothing New
9 What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9
There is nothing flowery about this verse. It’s just tired. The Teacher sits here like someone who has watched the same patterns circle back for decades and simply refuses to pretend otherwise.
Repetition can wear on me. I can finish something I have poured myself into, only to look up and see the next responsibility already waiting. It might be another decision, or just one more item added to the pile. And somewhere in that loop, I start questioning my current rhythm, or whether I just need a clean break.
Ecclesiastes holds you in place. The sky overhead hasn't changed since your grandfather stood beneath it. Every generation carries this restless heart, and you aren't uniquely broken. You've simply joined a very old company.
God doesn't rewrite the daily routine to get your attention, nor does He ask you to pretend it isn't heavy. Scripture is full of weary saints whose days looked remarkably like yours. He meets you right inside the repetition through His steady presence and quiet daily provision.
Father, stop my search for an exit. Meet me in the daily cycle and cultivate patience where I default to irritation.
