Even the Crumbs
27 “Yes, Lord,” she said, “yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Matthew 15:27
The Canaanite woman did not approach Jesus with demands or claims that He owed her anything. She came humble but bold, convinced that even the smallest bit of His mercy would be enough.
I catch myself coming to God so differently, full of my own expectations and fixated on the outcome I want. It is easy to forget who I am talking to. This woman shows me that faith is not about telling God how to handle things. It is about trusting His goodness even when His timing makes no sense.
What hits me hardest is how sure she was of His abundance. She was not asking because she thought she deserved it. She asked because she believed He was merciful.
That is the kind of faith I want. One that keeps showing up, not because I have earned anything, but because I know His grace is always bigger than my need.
Lord, keep my heart humble and dependent. Teach me to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing. Thank You that Your grace is more than enough.
