Compassion That Doesn’t Depend on Your Day

14 When he went ashore, he saw a large crowd, had compassion on them, and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14

Jesus had just heard about John the Baptist’s death. He withdrew to grieve, yet when the crowds found him, his heart still went out to them. He healed their sick.

That convicts me. I often let my own tiredness or stress dictate how I treat people. When I’m drained, it’s easy to see others as interruptions.

Jesus was different. His compassion didn’t depend on his circumstances. It flowed from who he was.

I want that kind of heart. One that sees people as souls in need of grace instead of problems to manage.

Lord, give me your heart today. Help me look past my own weariness and notice the people you place in front of me. Let my words and actions carry your compassion.
