The Way to Greatness
28 “just as the son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
The disciples had greatness all figured out in their heads. Position. Honor. Who gets to sit where. Jesus cuts right through it.
He had every right to be served. He chose the other way.
I keep coming back to that. I want my part to matter. I want people to see the work and say something about it. Recognition feels good. Jesus shows me a different road. Greatness isn’t climbing higher. It’s bending lower. Becoming useful.
The closer I walk with Him, the less the spotlight should pull at me. If the Son of God washed feet and gave Himself away, what excuse do I have?
Lord, make me more like Jesus. Help me let go of needing to be noticed. Teach me to serve without keeping score and to find something real in the quiet giving.
