What Is Shaping Me?

4 Jesus replied to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you.” Matthew 24:4

The disciples asked about the future. Jesus didn’t start with a timeline. He started with a warning: “Watch out that no one leads you astray.”

In that moment, the danger was people claiming to speak for God, even claiming to be the Messiah. Today, the danger often looks quieter: voices that promise certainty, comfort, or control, but slowly pull my heart away from Jesus.

I listen to a lot of voices. Headlines. Podcasts. Social media. Opinions. My own thoughts. All of them are trying to shape how I see the world. Jesus tells me to watch what is shaping me, because whatever holds my attention will eventually pull my direction.

The real deception isn’t aways something obviously false. Sometimes it’s letting other voices grow louder than His, or trusting narratives more than His Word.

Lord, help me notice the voices that pull my heart away from You. Give me discernment for what is true and a heart that keeps listening to Your Word.
