What My Words Reveal
37 “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:37
Words matter. I’m always trying to be careful with what I say, but Jesus cuts straight to the point: our words are leaking what’s inside of us. They show what we’re full of.
When I snap at someone, get critical, or become careless, it’s not really about my mouth. It has more to do with my heart. And the flip side is true, too. When my words lift people up, comfort them, or turn their eyes toward Jesus, that’s coming from somewhere deeper, too. My words often reveal the condition of my inner man.
Today I’m not praying, “God, help me do better.” I’m praying, “God, continue working on my heart.” A heart that’s slowly looking more like Christ’s will naturally start sounding like Him.
Lord, search me today. Let my words carry Your grace, truth, and love. Change my heart so that everything I say brings honor to You.
